LANGUAGE TROUBLESHOOTING

Why Is My TikTok Transcript in the Wrong Language?

In one test of a Chinese video, Auto-detect produced mostly repeated English, while choosing Chinese produced readable Chinese only at the beginning before repeating text later. On that file, selecting Chinese changed the opening but did not make the full transcript usable.

Auto-detect

70.39 seconds processing time

Mostly repeated English; later distortion.

Chinese

81.97 seconds processing time

Readable Chinese at the beginning; repetition continued later.

Same file, test.mp4; audio length 146.70 seconds. Recorded results from this sample only.

What changed when the language was specified?

The same file, test.mp4, was run once with Auto-detect and once with Chinese selected. The recorded outputs differed at the start, but both became too repetitive or distorted to use directly.

Does Auto-detect work for Chinese audio?

This test did not produce a usable Chinese transcript with Auto-detect. Selecting Chinese changed the opening output to Chinese, but the later repetition remained. That is evidence about this one run, not proof that Auto-detect always fails on Chinese or that every Chinese TikTok will behave the same way.

What to check when the transcript language looks wrong

  1. Listen to the saved clip and identify its main spoken language.
  2. Choose that language in the tool before starting a new transcription.
  3. Review both the opening and later sections. A correct-looking start does not establish that the whole transcript is usable.
  4. If repeated or distorted text continues, treat the output as a failed run and check the words against the original audio before using it.

In the recorded Chinese sample, the explicit language choice improved the opening language match, but it did not resolve the full-output problem.

What this comparison cannot tell us

The two runs used one file and changed the language setting. They do not isolate the cause of the later repetition. The evidence cannot distinguish whether it came from the audio, model behavior, language selection, or another part of the browser transcription process. No accuracy percentage or general language limit can be calculated from these runs.

Frequently asked questions

Should I select Chinese instead of Auto-detect?

If the saved clip is spoken in Chinese, you can select Chinese before transcribing. In the measured sample, that produced Chinese at the beginning, but later repetition remained, so check the entire result.

Why does my TikTok transcript repeat words?

The available test does not identify one cause. It records repetition under both Auto-detect and Chinese on the same sample; it is not enough evidence to attribute the problem to a specific component.

Can I paste a TikTok link into this tool?

No. This page works with a video or audio file that you have saved on your device. The browser processes the selected file locally.

Open the TikTok transcript tool to choose a saved file and set its spoken language before processing.
